This past week we were able to sit down and do an interview with the two rad humans that make up The Insta Culture. Cara & Justin have created a space solely used to build up brands, share stories, and cultivate communities. A place where businesses, people, & cultures can connect with one another. After reaching out to us for a feature on their account, we couldn’t refuse!
Below are some questions they asked us revolving around how we met, where the creativity of Two Little Birds came from, and our constant daily inspirations.
P.S. these photos are from a shoot we did with the babes at Free People, and if you didn’t know by now . . . Free People is life & has & will always be one of our biggest inspirations. Shooting with them was a dream.
Where are you from/where do you live?
We were both born and raised in Corona, CA but now we both live in Newport Beach, CA.
What do you want people to know about your journey?
We both grew up in the same town dancing and when we were in high school we were on competitive dance teams (our schools were major rivals). After high school we were both really involved in Los Angeles for acting, singing and modeling and we ended up running in to each other on set one day. With both having a love for fashion we began our journey in the marketing and web department at a clothing line in down town Los Angeles. As we began styling photoshoots and working with major bloggers we realized that we too could have a blog of our own where we can voice our opinions and share our style. It’s become somewhat of a public diary for the both of us…we are very open and honest with our readers because we want people to connect with us on a normal level…we get life and the normal things that happen and that’s exactly what we blog about. After launching about a year and a half ago we have the opportunity to work with major brands and photographers.
What’s one Instagram tip that has helped you build your following?
Honestly…Instagram is such a fun platform to post our pictures on. We try to show our goofy side, our honest side, our deep side, all while being real and not taking things too seriously. Our followers are the coolest because they interact with us when they really like something…it’s priceless immediate feedback. We also always try to keep our pictures within the same story and color line…IT”S ALL ABOUT THE FLOW.
What are one or two hashtags that you use for your own business or personal page?
#twolittlebirds . . . no matter what
Who are three of the most influential IG-ers that you follow and/or know?
@tashoakley she’s a mega aussie babe who takes incredible photos & has built an empire solely around bikinis.
@natalieoffduty she has brilliant pictures, travels and gives us an east coast spice.
@houseinhabit super random, but she is the coolest Mom on the planet with 3 boys and totally rocks at life. Her feed is unreal and her humor is even more enticing.
What’s one life tip that you can give to this InstaCulture?
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance of his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7. Even though Instagram is purely about imagery, we have to remember that connecting with people in real life is more than just an iPhone screen. We don’t get to take Instagram with us when we die, so don’t get so caught up in it…have a little fun birdies and step away from the screen.
