If you haven’t noticed yet, summertime is our absolute FAVORITE season. For most, summer means lots of bikinis and lots of sun. We’ve been doing our best to stay fully covered in our favorite sunscreens (coola + kiss my face) to keep away the unwanted sun burns or even the possibility of skin cancer. We also love wearing hats that cover most of our faces from the harsh sun rays, aka our summertime favorites from Peter Grimm.
There’s a few other precautionary tips for keeping your skin healthy against the brutal sun that you may have not known! Keep reading to get the tips 🙂

Skin Protecting Foods
It’s just as important to eat sun fighting foods as it is to put sunblock on top of skin. Here’s how:
Tomatoes. Yes, tomatoes of any kind…this means salsa, soup, extra salad toppings, you name it! Just add tomatoes into your every day meals throughout summer and it will start working affectively. Tomatoes have a magical power called lycopene, this has been proven to provide long-term protection against UV-radiation.
Green Tea. Hot or cold. Start drinking it birdies! It’s refreshing, great for your skin AND your digestive track AND it gives you energy!
Carrots. The best way to get a ton of beta carotene in would be through juicing or even carrying a hand full of baby carrots around to crunch on. Beta carotene helps fight back against photoaging.
Watermelon. The red like color means that there is Lycopene. . .which means it’s going to help your skin fight back against the sun and eliminate the possible redness that happens after too much sun.
Anything naturally red like tomatoes, watermelon, strawberries or even red sweet peppers have Lycopene in them and it helps your skin basically have a natural spf built into it!
This DOES NOT mean you should stop using sun block, it’s an added helper 🙂
Keep your sun block tucked away in the perfect sunblock carrier (or make up bag) from Puravida.
We keep our skin protected because we don’t want to burn, have age spots from the SUN and we want to decrease our wrinkles in the future as much as possible!

That’s an interesting benefit for the lycopene, I just picked the first garden tomato today, they are my favorite, so I will appreciate the added UV protection. Summertime is awesome. God, you girls are so gorgeous, you look amazing.
