Well, well, welllllll look what the fall dragged in. . .
A cold, yuck! If you’re like me, then you HATE being sick. Being sick is a waste of time, amen? Well, I’m about to get real raw with you. . .yesterday (Tuesday) was not my “best performance” day.
It went a little something like this: rolled over and looked at my phone at 9:05 and there was a long list of missed calls and texts from everyone I usually talk to in the morning.
My heart stopped. . . 9:05!?!?!? I had work at 8:00am!! I overslept and everything felt soo hazy and I was groggy. I panicked, because that’s what you do in these situations, right? Wrong. I calmed myself down for a second and prayed, I literally stopped what I was doing and prayed! My prayer of being calm and relaxed was answered and I felt somewhat better and then all of a sudden I realized my throat felt like I swallowed golf balls. I was sick, the fall had officially struck me down. BOO! I called my boss and she immediately knew that I was sick and that’s why I hadn’t shown up. I’m so embarrassed because out of all of my years of working. . I have NEVER been a no show to work. Well luckily Gods grace was given to me today and all was forgiven.
The Warning sign ::
This semester has been one for the books. I’m taking 19 units and I have 2 jobs (I just resigned one of them because, well, I’m unfortunately not a superhero and I can’t seem to juggle it all + the blog haha). With my heavy work load I have been cutting back on my sleep in order to get my stuff done before I’m up again for work and school. Well, my body knew that yesterday I needed more than a few measly hours of sleep so it forced me to sleep through my alarm clock in order for me to get some real rest. I’d like to say that the rest was worth it and it made me feel better but it didn’t. So I called my mom to see what I should take to get this bug out of me ASAP!
Adios Fall Bug ::
My mom is a rock star for knowing what to get me to feel better. In between classes, I ran over to Sprouts Farmers Market and Vons Grocery Store to pick up a few vitamins my pantry was missing.
What I got ::
-Zinc Lozenges. I got mine at sprouts for $2.99 and the zinc has elderberry! Zinc is amazing for your body, especially when trying to fight a cold or flu! Elderberry also helps treat bacterial and viral infections and it overall builds your immune system.
-EmergenC raspberry flavor. Basically a soda fizzy like drink. I add it to sparkling water for an extra fizz. This is packed with a bunch of vitamins that will kick start your road to recovery and it tastes yummy! It’s on sale this week at Sprouts. . .stock up!
-Turmeric Capsules. They are currently on mega sale at Sprouts! Turmeric is good for basically EVERYTHING! It is an anti-inflammatory, builds your immune system, fights diseases and so much more! This is something you should try to take 1x per day to help your overall health! It also helps your bones and joints 🙂
-Vitamin C. In addition to the above list I added vitamin c because you can’t actually O.D on it. You can keep taking it and it will run the bug right out of your system.
-A bag of oranges. You guessed it. . .more vitamin c but in raw yummy form!
-Soup. The only part about being sick that I actually like. I’m a soup-aholic.
Don’t forget to listen to your body, it knows when you need rest or else it might force you to sleep through your alarm clock!
