It’s Christmas week!!!!!!! I repeat it’s CHRISTMAS WEEK!!!!! The elf in me can hardly wait to stuff my face with sweet treats, mingle with my fun (& crazy) family, attend my churches Christmas play, and finally give out the Christmas gifts I’ve been hiding in my closet for weeks now.
If your family is anything like mine, or my friends or my coworkers. . .then you 99.9% more than likely have some chaos when it comes to the holidays. I kinda love it, our holiday is never boring and we’re usually left exhausted for days after (in the best way possible). My family, since the beginning of time, has hosted every holiday at our house. . .which means we have to prep and clean up everything while still tending to our family and guest.
With the hot topic of politics this season, NO I’M NOT GOING TO TALK ABOUT POLITICS HERE (this is the safe zone), it’s going to be a fun and wild dinner with all the different opinions sitting at one table celebrating Jesus’ birthday. Read that one more time. It’s Jesus’ birthday!!! So remember when you want to roll your eyes at the crazy relative you share a hint of DNA with because they are talking about goodness knows what from, more than likely, an unreliable source (Facebook, yes I’m calling you out for all your “fake” news you’ve been delivering to our feeds) just take a deep breath and an even bigger gulp of wine and bring out your master plan that I call the diversion tool. *cue the cute aliens from toy story. ooohh ahhhhh.
What the heck is a diversion tool you ask? Well, it’s a small bowl or basket filled with fun folded questions that will be passed around the dinner or dessert table to help the conversations stay light and happy! Have the person next to you pick out a question and everyone in the room has to answer it and then you keep moving around until the basket is empty. It’s a fun way to learn about your family and discover new things you had no idea about.
