Your Guide to New York

New York, New York

This magical city filled with so much excitement and life is one of my favorites! I have been here a few times, but this time was my absolute FAVORITE! After years (and years and years) of skipping family vacations because of crazy schedules, my mama booked the tickets and told us we’re leaving for the best big city EVER!

This was my families first time in New York and it could not have been more perfect. We landed the week before Christmas and the weather was beautiful, 18-20 degrees of pure crisp freshness. We wandered the city and saw all the famous sites while stopping in to some of my favorite local spots and spots suggested by locals. Half way through the trip it began snowing and the city was covered in white beautiful powder.

Read below for the list of must go to spots in the city!

The Wooly Daily is my favorite coffee shop in the business district near ground zero. They have unreal toasted marshmallows on top of their delicious hot chocolate (add an espresso shot if you need a caffeine boost)

The New Freedom Tower in honor of the 9/11 world trade center. Going to ground zero is something you have to do.

The Charging Bull on Wall Street! My brother is studying finance and loves everything about the stock exchange, so Wall Street and The Stock Exchange were a must see for Branden and my family.

Mom & dads first ever experience on the Subway! Taxis are fun to drive around in the city but everyone needs to experience the Subway! Use the maps on your phone and switch it from car or walking to public transportation and it will give you the exact details that you need to get to your destination.

Central Park! It’s prettier than what you see in the movies. . .which seems impossible until you get there! My brother, who is a college track and field athlete, ran all of central park in the mornings to get his 10 miles in for the day. I obviously just took the pictures and got coffee with my mom while my dad chased him on a bike. It was so much fun! When the weather changed and it began to snow one morning. . .my brothers hair literally FROZE in to icicles!!!

The most amazing local Italian food spot in Soho on the outside of Little Italy. Rubirosa Ristorante is a MUST! It has a cool vibe with a 1920’s touch. The owner is a rad local lady who is super hands on and the employees are really sweet too!

**TIP** When you’re cold but don’t want to order a coffee or tea. . .order a hot water with lemon. It’s free, yummy, warms you up and it’s good for you!

Here’s the cool bar with yummy drinks at Rubirosa Ristorante!

The classic Rockefeller tree over the ice skating rink. So pretty!

My cousin, Vinny, has an office in The Rockefeller Center so we got the full VIP tour. It was so rad going to the tip top and looking over the city.

5th Avenue is a must see. The window displays are GORGEOUS.

See a show! We saw The Rockettes (a dream of my mama’s). It was amazing!

There are so many Le Pain Quotidien locations throughout the city. If you like cute french cafes with delicious baked goods, avocado toast and warm coffee. . .this is your spot.

Here’s a few other places that you NEED to go to! Yelp them to check them out for yourself

-Piazza notte (Really cool modern art pieces with an art deco feel, the pizza is unreal!)

-Rosemary’s (Near green witch village)

-Jacks Wife Frieda (Dainty and delicious breakfast meals. . .they serve other meals too but their breaky dishes are BOMB)

-Bluestone Lane Collective Cafe (Australian coffee shop with delicious avocado toast!) Go to the Upper East side location. . .it’s in a old historic church and the inside is soooo beautiful!

-Candle Cafe, if you’re in to vegan goodness!

-Two Hands (Australian delicious coffee with good eats & treats)

-Cha Cha Matcha (you need this in your life if you like Matcha Lattes)

Go to Soho, Green Witch Village and Brooklyn for all the cool spots but make sure you stop and appreciate some of the tourist spots. . .because being a tourist is so fun sometimes!
